Role of the LTC in Student Learning
Welcome to the Learning and Teaching Centre’s (LTC) student information page.
- The LTC runs the Writing Centre (TWC), which is located in the Learning Commons in the McPherson Library. TWC works with both undergraduate and graduate students to help them become better, more confident writers. For more information please see the TWC webpage.
- We also administer the UVic Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards (JCURA).
As well, in an effort to assure that UVic students are getting the most out of their education, we provide support to professors and TA’s in order to enhance not only the teaching, but the learning that goes on in and outside the classroom. Our aim is to help create an environment that joins faculty and students as partners in learning, by offering a variety of resources that will help raise the bar of teaching excellence.
Still not quite sure what role the Learning and Teaching Centre plays in improving the student learning experience? Here are some examples of what we offer to UVic faculty and staff:
- Consultation on improving teaching techniques
- Conduct workshops and seminars that address classroom teaching challenges
- Evaluation, assignment and course re-design
- Organize and participate in annual TA training event
- Promote effective teaching practices at the University of Victoria
