The Centre for Academic Communication (the CAC - formerly The Writing Centre)

The CAC offers support to help you develop your academic communication skills. In addition to writing support, we can help you improve your understanding of academic expectations, what to think about when planning a presentation, and hone your academic English. Students who are registered in undergraduate or graduate programs will use the CAC to get feedback on their writing, develop stronger communication skills, and establish a learning plan for their academic communication skills for their time at UVic.

The CAC is located on the main floor of the Library, in the Learning Commons, in Rooms 135J - M. The CAC is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 10:00am - 6:00pm, Thursdays until 7:00pm, and Fridays until 4:00pm. During Reading Week (February 10th - 13th, 2015), writing tutorials will be available from 12:00pm- 3:00pm and we will offer ILEAP, which is an intensive set of workshops geared to support the learning needs of students whose first language is not English, but everyone is welcome to attend. The ILEAP workshops will be located in the library in different rooms. Please see us at the CAC to confirm the room number for the workshop you wish to attend. Registration is required; see the "workshops" section below for more information.

We're located in the Learning Commons of the Mearns Centre for Learning/McPherson Library. We also offer online writing tutorials; see below for details. All of our programming is free to UVic undergraduate and graduate students.
