This session addresses the importance of student engagement to enhance satisfaction and productivity. Approaches to managing social/personal and professional issues are discussed within the context of the student’s developmental trajectory (e.g., undergrad to grad; coursework to thesis; graduate program to post-doc/employment).

In this session, research ethics and ethics in faculty-student (i.e., power-over) relationships are introduced. Areas where ethical dilemmas may arise are identified (e.g., intellectual property, authorship) and examples of possible courses of action provided. A set of principles to consider when seeking appropriate courses of action will be highlighted.
