This workshop is designed to facilitate participants in giving an effective presentation in an academic environment. Each participant will give two 10-minute presentations designed for different contexts and will provide constructive feedback for the presentations of others. $25 registration deposit (refundable upon completion of the full program).

Instructional Technology Working Group [ITWG] - Professional Development Opportunities

This meeting of the ITWG will be a discussion of how to create more professional development opportunities for UVic instructors and contribute to and profit from resources at other Vancouver Island institutions, including learning and evaluating new software, applying for development grants both on and off campus and more. Please join us to hear about current opportunities and/or to bring your own suggestions for future initiatives.

Developing Your Teaching Dossier Workshop

Developing your teaching dossier is the most effective way to document your teaching for reappointment, tenure and promotion, as well as for winning awards. The most important part of the dossier is the narrative statement that guides the reader through the supporting documentary evidence. This workshop will discuss the role of the teaching dossier in the assessment process at UVic, assist you in developing your narrative, and outline an effective structure for organizing your materials. Also useful for graduate students who plan to apply for teaching jobs!

Writing for Publication Workshop

All faculty and graduate students can learn to enhance the likelihood of publishing their ideas or findings. The issues addressed in this workshop concern how one initiates and organizes the writing process, identifies appropriate journals and communicates with editors. The workshop includes invaluable practical insights about the publishing process.
