One of great challenges in the use of PowerPoint slides is the static nature of the slide and the simple fact that it limits the use of the blackboard (why do we put screens in front of the chalk board?). Ulrike Stege will demonstrate use of the SmartBoard in this session. New members always welcome!

Instructional Technology Series VI: Streaming Video

Several instructors have made use of UVic streaming video resources to provide students with additional opportunities to work with the content of in-class lectures. Mary Sanseverino and Laurel Bowman will demonstrate their use of streaming videos in their respective first year Computer Science and Greek and Roman Studies courses and discuss how streaming video affected student learning.

Representatives from the Faculty Association along with two faculty members who have recently received tenure will discuss the tenure process and suggest ways in which you can begin now to increase the probability that the process for you is relatively stress-free and successful. This will be an informal session and your questions will be welcomed.

This workshop is designed to reinforce the basics of giving a good presentation. It will address academic lectures more than social speeches, but the fundamentals have much in common. Each participant will give two 10 minute presentations in different settings. When not presenting, the participants will be the providers of constructive feedback. There is no fee to attend, but there is a $25 registration deposit, which is refundable to participants who have completed all sessions.  We will ask for the deposit once your registration has been confirmed.  All sessions MUST BE ATTENDED.
